Two Dynamo International trainees gave their contribution to this new newsletter :
Magalie with a report on the new CNCD 11.11.11 campaign, of which Dynamo is one of the beneficiaries. This year the accent is put on the workers, under the motto “workers are not tools”, the purpose being to exact a better regulation of the private actors.
Marie with an interview of a European voluntary back from Armenia. The questions do not beat about the bush and in turn the answers are frank. But notwithstanding certain trying moments, the young voluntary considers his experience as having been enriching.
Jonathan, former member of the Dynamo International team, gives us a fascinating story of a trip he has decided to undertake in order to discover the world, not as a tourist, but to meet the children living in the street. His report on the fate of the Senegalese children, at first forced to undergo a religious education, thereafter exploited as working force by some of the teachers, arises deep indignation.
If there is a further reality giving cause to indignation, it is that of many children and women in the Congo Democratic Republic, as described by the manageress of the “Angels from heaven” association in Kinshasa. This association seeks to promote the rights of children and women in difficulty, rights which are very often flouted.
Other contribution, that of the coordinator of the Spanish network of street workers, who reports about the positive reactions on the “International guide on the methodology of street work throughout the world”. Recently the latter was the subject of an official presentation, amongst others by the manager of Dynamo International, in three Spanish cities. Several other cities will follow.

Interview with Thierry, back from volunteering in Armenia
Thierry de Vaere, interviewed by Marie Graillet, intern at Dynamo International
1. Why did you go to Armenia and how did it come about?
I went to Armenia because it was a country that I didn’t know at all. Also, it has a very long and rich history. I was able to go thanks to Ara’s help, the young SVE volunteer who was staying with Dynamo. I had to postpone my trip several times but eventually took a flight last January, 21st.
2. What was your project once you were there? What was your welcome like?
My project there was to compare Belgian tolerance with the level of tolerance in Armenia. I was welcomed with open arms by the “ICIRLD”, a non-profit organization which deals with international cultural projects in Armenia.

Log book: Senegal and the Talibe children
Jonathan Derenne, former member of the Dynamo International team, now travelling
After having worked for Dynamo International for almost a year, I decided to go and see the world, knowing that I would come across street children. I had always been interested in this issue but never had the chance to really see it for myself.
First of all I crossed Morocco and Mauritania and I found the same situation in both countries: no structure to provide help for young people who were left to themselves to face the dangers of the street. Then I continued my journey on to Senegal, where I was really struck by the number of young beggars in the towns. Like all good Europeans, I slipped them a coin or two, more to be able to finish my shopping in peace, rather than from a surge of generosity...

Introduction of the “International guide on the methodology of street work throughout the world” in Spain
Jon Etxeberria Esquina, coordinator of the international network of street workers in Spain, edited by Sébastien Debecker at Dynamo International
The Hezizerb association and several local city councillors have recently officially presented the “International Guide on the Methodology of street work throughout the world” to the region of Gipuzkoa. This document has been drawn up based on a participatory methodology involving street workers from the four corners of the world.
This cooperation between street workers has been taking shape for over six years now: an effort to share our professional experiences, discover new practices, help young people to travel, etc. It has allowed us to meet one another and to discover different horizons as professionals following many trips, discussions, and internal and external debates. Today, we are very pleased to have finally been able to present this Guide...
