In the framework of International Network of Street Social Workers seventy professionals were in Madrid in a conference on street work, organized by the Asociation Semilla (Dynamo Workers International Street). The activities of this meeting were motivated by workshops for educators and the consolidation of the network in Europe.
The last 25th of March a group of professionals involved in street work in Spain met in Madrid under a dual objective: to make a reflection on teacher training and disseminate recommendations about street work arising out of the Brussels Forum II "Paroles de rue" (October 2010).
In addition to the street implemented experiences presented, the promoter for Development Initiatives and Social Education (PRIDE) of Zaragoza was charged with submitting recommendations, European and international, which were presented at the European parliament in October 2010. Asociación Navarra Nuevo Futuro, meanwhile, explained how the network has been enabled by the European Union (PROGRESS) as a European network focused in the poverty reduction and social exclusion and what brings this to the actions of the Network in the areas of communication and training.
Also, Asun Llena, rector of the Education Faculty, University of Barcelona, and Marta Llobet, teacher in the same University, presented the progress made towards the design of a specific curriculum to the street worker training. They led a workshop aimed to deepen the competencies and specific skills that must have a street worker.
Edwin Boeve (Dynamo International, Brussels), Juan Martín Pérez (Network for the Rights of Children in Mexico) and Helder Santos (Conversas de Rua de Lisboa) participated via videoconference in this meeting which was presented the methodological guide published in 2008.
