Invitation for the International Québec meeting

It is with great pleasure the l’Association des Travailleurs et Travailleuses de rue du Québec (ATTRueQ) (Quebec’s Street Workers association) invites you to the international meeting of Street Work professionals which will be held from June 8th to 12th 2009 in Québec City.
10 years ago, street workers from here and many other countries of Europe and Africa were reuniting in Montreal, Province of Quebec, during the conference «Francophonie et travail de rue» (Francophone & Street Work). The international Network of Street Workers was then in its first steps. Today, 32 countries out of the five continents got a membership, continue to support each others and share common concerns about issues in regard of street work practice and realities of people in social breakdown throughout the whole world.
The next international Network meeting which will be held in Quebec City in 2009 aimed primarily at practitioners of Street Working. However we also wish to enhance our works using many other points of view to feed our work in terms of directors and coordinators, managers of organizations working on the streets, supervisors and trainers, researchers and other key partners in the updating of our practice.
This meeting is aiming at two main objectives:
1 To contribute to the advancement of the training process’ thought, a key element which is essential for practice development that raises critical issues in relation to the culture and future of Street Work.
2 To promote the Pan-American development axis of the International Network of Social Street Workers. Indeed, although ties with colleagues from Europe, Africa, Asia and Central/South America solidify since many years, the collaborations remain to be built with English Canadian and American practitioners.
Programming is currently available on the ATTRueQ ‘s Website such as the contribution’s request as well. This call is addressed to those who are interested to apply for a contribution (on their own behalf or their organisation's) for the conference contents. The way and the form as well as detailed information on accommodations and services during your stay shall be available on the same website: www.attrueq.org. The site is available on February 2009.
